Annual Statewide Assistive Technology Conference sponsored by the Oregon Technology Access Program | OTAP
We invite you to apply to exhibit one or both conference days, February 23 & 24, 2015. Each space consists of an 8' table, linen, skirting, chairs, wastebasket, hi-speed, wireless internet, electricity and one lunch. There are extended breaks in the morning and afternoon as well as lunch time access to the exhibit area. The exhibit fee is $150 per day or $250 for both days. Space is limited and the planning committee will make final selections.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
PARTICIPANTS | We anticipate attendance at this conference to be 150+ participants. We generally draw Assistive Technology Specialists, Occupational Therapists, General Ed and Special Ed Teachers, Parents, Speech Therapists, Teachers and Specialists in Early Intervention, Higher Education and others that use or are interested in increasing their knowledge of assistive technology in educational settings.
SESSIONS | Monday morning General Session is entitled “New Research, New Standards…New Written Productivity Profile” presented by Dr. Denise DeCoste who is an occupational therapist and a special educator with over 25 years of experience in the field of assistive technology (AT). For 2 decades, she led low and high incidence AT teams in Montgomery County Maryland Public Schools. She was instrumental in building awareness of UDL across the district and in the systematic implementation of UDL in MCPS schools, and was the chair of the Maryland State Department’s UDL Task Force. Currently, she is an independent consultant providing training and mentoring on assistive technology and AT team development topics. She has authored numerous publications. In the past 2 years she has authored a journal article on the changing role of AT teams, a chapter for AOTA on assistive technology in schools, and a new edition of the Written Productivity Profile.
The Conference will also feature a variety of breakout sessions Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday. A Call for Presenters will be available on our website September 1, 2014.
