The Plug-n-Scan A3 EP is a revolutionary new 36-bit color scanning system. Capable of scanning up to 11.7" x 17", the ultra-slim A3 EP is perfectly suited to scan complete book spreads, two letter-sized pages (simultaneously), large-format magazines, legal or tabloid-sized documents, photographs and more, all in stunning color. Bundled with a complete suite of photo-retouching tools, OCR and other software, the A3 EP is a solid performer.
New Contact Image Sensor Technology The Plug-n-Scan A3 EP features the new Contact Image Sensor Technology (CIS). More compact in size, lighter and energy efficient, CIS eliminates the need for a separated light source, mirror, lens and image sensor of traditional Charged Coupled Device (CCD) scanners. The Plug-n-Scan A3 EP has an optical resolution of 300 x 600 dpi and a maximum software enhanced resolution of 9600 dpi. With its 36-bit color abilities, the A3 EP can recognize over 68.7 billion colors internally and save up to 16.7 million colors, the maximum number of colors displayable by Windows. The Plug-n-Scan A3 EP is a TWAIN compliant scanner. Through TWAIN, the A3 EP can scan directly into many supported applications, providing flexibility and value. |

| Parallel Port Installation Installation couldn’t be simpler. No interface cards, no jumpers, no unlabeled switches and no guesswork are needed. The Plug-n-Scan A3 EP plugs directly into the printer port on the back of your PC. Even more convenient, your printer then plugs into the back of the scanner. Compact Design The overall dimensions of the Plug-n-Scan A3 EP are 22.1" x 15.1" x 3.4" making it one of the most compact and efficient large-format scanners in the world. With it’s small size and easy installation, it is highly transportable. Easy To Use The Direct Scan Program automatically launches when you open the scanner cover. Choose the destination for your scanned document from iPhoto Plus, TextBridge Classic OCR, Fax, Print or e-mail. Press the scan button and your document will automatically be sent to the proper application. Users who desire more control over scanner settings can disable the Direct Scan Program and use the Plug-n-Scan A3 EP TWAIN driver instead. The full versions of Picture Publisher 5.0 for Windows 3.1 and 6.0 for Windows 95 are both included on CD-ROM. Picture Publisher’s visual tools are easy to use and allow unparalleled creative freedom. They provide an interactive preview to display the results before they are applied. If a mistake is made, Picture Publisher’s InfiniteUndo™ and Command Layering™ can eliminate any previous action or rearrange the order in which commands were applied. With its "Instant Access OCR" feature, Xerox TextBridge Classic software allows documents to be scanned for editing directly with your word processing software. TextBridge is powerful and easy to use, capable of recognizing many different fonts at various sizes, quickly and accurately converting scanned documents into editable formats.
The included image-editing software allows the Plug-n-Scan A3 EP to save in JPEG and GIF file formats commonly used for Internet graphics.
