| The Paragon 1200 III SP is a complete 36-bit color scanning system, which includes the tools needed to scan photographs, logos, illustrations, and text. The 1200 III SP includes image editing and photo-retouching software as well as optical character recognition software. The Paragon 1200 III SP has an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi and a maximum software enhanced resolution of 9600 dpi. With its 36-bit color abilities, the 1200 III SP can recognize over 68.7 billion colors internally and save up to 16.7 million colors, the maximum number of colors displayable by Windows. The Paragon 1200 III SP is a TWAIN compliant scanner. Through TWAIN, the 1200 III SP can scan directly into many supported applications, providing flexibility and value. For Macintosh, the 1200 III SP uses PhotoShop plug-ins that can be used with a variety of popular Macintosh imaging programs. Cross Platform Scanner The 1200 III SP is truly a cross-platform scanner. | Windows installation is effortless with the included 16-bit SCSI card. Under Windows 3.1, the driver allocates the required resources. Windows 95 automatically recognizes the interface card when installed and sets all required resources. Macintosh installation is even easier, the scanner plugs into the Mac's built-in SCSI port and the software is all on CD-ROM. Compact Design The overall dimensions of the Paragon 1200 III SP are 17.3" x 11.8" x 3.4", making it one of the most compact and efficient scanners in the world. Easy To Use The Direct Scan Program (Windows 95 only) automatically launches when you open the scanner cover. Choose the destination for your scanned document from iPhoto Plus, TextBridge Classic OCR, Fax, Print or e-mail. Press the scan button and your document will automatically be sent to the proper application. Users who desire more control over scanner settings can disable the Direct Scan Program and use the Paragon 1200 III SP TWAIN driver instead. The full versions of Picture Publisher 5.0 for Windows 3.1 and 6.0 for Windows 95 are both included on CD-ROM. Picture Publisher's visual tools are easy to use and allow unparalleled creative freedom. They provide an interactive preview to display the results before they are applied. If a mistake is made, Picture Publisher's InfiniteUndo and Command Layering can eliminate any previous action or rearrange the order in which commands were applied. Ulead's iPhoto Plus 4 for Windows 95 allows you to easily create your own custom calendars, greeting cards and more. MicroFrontier's Color It! is included for image editing on the Macintosh. With its "Instant Access OCR" feature, Xerox TextBridge Classic software allows documents to be scanned for editing directly with your word processing software. TextBridge is powerful and easy to use, capable of recognizing many different fonts at various sizes, quickly and accurately converting scanned documents into editable formats.
The included image editing software allows the Paragon 1200 III SP to save in JPEG and GIF file formats commonly used for Internet graphics. The GIF file format allows transparent areas and interlaced downloading.
