What does ‘Format’ mean? top Format means to prepare a storage medium, in this case is the camera’s internal memory or a memory card, for reading and writing. When you format a disk, your camera erases all information on the disk, tests the disk to make sure all sectors are reliable and creates internal address tables that it later uses to find and write information. Although formatting memory does not erase the data on the disk, it is a destructive process. If you accidentally format your camera’s memory, you can buy programs that enable you to recover some, if not all, of the data. NOTE: These type of programs are not sold, developed or supported by Mustek. Using third party software and hardware can harm your equipment, thus voiding your warranty. -
