1. On your DTC-3181L or Domex 3181L card, set J1 and J2 on (i.e. cover both J1 and J2 with a jumper).
2. Install the card into your PC (make sure its turned off while doing this).
3. Boot into Windows 2000 and log in as Administrator, using a capital letter A.
4. After Windows 2000 starts, run the file dtc3181x.exe. Enter the directory where you want the files to be installed, temporarily. After the files extract, in the directory you selected run Setup.exe.
5. Once the DTC3181 driver is installed, it will ask you to restart the PC. Click Restart.
6. The PC will restart and notify you that Windows has installed the new hardware and it will ask you to restart the PC again. Click Restart.
7. Once the PC has restarted the second time, install the 1200iiispw2k.exe file. (Note: You will notice that, while installing, the driver installation says 12000 SP Plus. This is simply the driver name under Windows 2000 and is the correct driver for your 1200IIISP.)
8. Once the file has been installed, shut down your PC and turn it off.
9. Connect the scanner to the PC via the provided Mustek Cable, then connect the power adapter. Once the scanner is turned on and initialized, start your PC.
10. Windows 2000 will install the SCSI card as a Raid/SCSI host controller in the Device Manager under SCSI Controllers. It will then install the scanner as a 12000 SP Plus in the Device Manager under Imaging Device.
11. Windows 2000 will ask you if you want to install the scanner even though it does not have a Digital ID. Click "yes" to continue (there is no digital ID available for this scanner).
12. From here you will be able to use the scanner by clicking on your imaging program (such as Imaging or iPhoto PIus 4). Again, the source selection will say 12000 SP Plus; choose this source to use your scanner.
