Scanner Maintenance

Environmental Limitations– For the scanner to perform suitablyto task, take note of the following environmental and operating conditions:

The scanner should be placed on a sturdy level surface away from dustand direct sunlight.

Operating temperatures should be kept between 10 and 40 degrees Centigrade(50 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit).

Relative humidity should be between 35% and 80%.

Operating Cautions– Ensure that your flatbed scanner operates at optimum performanceby observing the following:

Cover the scanner when not in use to avoid dust entry. Avoid environmentswhere the scanner would be exposed to direct sunlight (or other excessiveheat) for a long time.

Protect the scanner from potential liquid spills such as soda, coffee,tea, etc.

Operate the scanner on a level, well-grounded work surface, free ofexcessive vibration.

Be careful to avoid scratching the glass when placing multi-page documents(bound by sharp staples or paper clips) on the scan window glass.

Scratches on the glass will show up as unwanted marks in scanned images.

Don’t open the scanner case because there is danger of electrical shock.There are no customer-serviceable parts inside. For warranty repairs, contactTechnical Support for a Return Merchandise Authorizationnumber (RMA#).

Cleaning Procedures

Turn off the power on the scanner and disconnect the AC power cable.

Clean the glass with a soft lint-free cloth and mild liquid detergentapplied to the cloth to remove fingerprints, smudges, or loose particles.Unless removed, these will adversely affect the quality of scanned images.

Do not use a spray detergent or glass cleaner containing ammonia onthe scanner. Spray detergents or ammonia may get inside the case and corrodethe scanner’s internal components. Wipe off the detergent with a soft clothdamp with water.

Finally, dry the surface by wiping it with a soft clean cloth.
